For weeks between September and October 2024, homes near completion across the City of Frederick were hit by burglars who made off with high-dollar appliances, according to police.

Investigators say thieves struck on weekends when construction crews were off for days at a time, snatching up water heaters, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, microwaves, and stoves—items that could be easily resold for a quick profit.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit linked the string of break-ins to a trio of Frederick men who allegedly used rental trucks to haul away the stolen loot.

The suspects were identified as:

  • Gabriel Ernesto Cruz-Romero, 18, of Frederick;
  • Samuel Enrique Diaz-Pedreanez, 18, of Frederick;
  • Jaylin Elijah Matthews, 18, of Frederick.

Following search and seizure warrants, investigators say they tied the three to the burglarized homes, leading to multiple charges of theft and conspiracy to commit a theft scheme.

All three were issued criminal summonses to appear in court.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Frederick Police at 301-600-2102.
